Michael Imhof
Dr. Michael Imhof is a German surgeon with over 100 scientific publications, as well as a painter and philosopher who explores the intersections of science and philosophy. He addresses an international audience.
Dr. Imhof approached us to refresh his aging website, transhuman-art.com, where he had been showcasing his artwork and presenting himself as an artist.
The new website, however, was also meant to draw attention to his literary work as an author, embedding his art within a scientific context.
We decided to move away from the self-conceived term “transhuman art” and opt for a more personal approach, using his name. He, as an individual, should be the starting point for the diverse expressions of his time. When searching for his name, the website should clarify who he is.
In preparation for this project, I had already laid out the 3 English volumes of Dr. Imhof’s series Philosophie der Medizin und des Menschen, designed the cover, and created a fitting book box for his titles. Now, the volumes were available in both German and English.

The website should give the visitor a formal, professional impression at first glance, while also emphasizing the presence of the artist with a mission.

The gallery showcases his works, which can also be purchased upon request. A grid provides an overview of his various paintings. By clicking on an image, a slideshow opens, allowing users to view the images individually.

By navigating to the “Philosophy of Medicine and Man” tab, visitors are presented with a preface to the three volumes, along with a brief introduction to each and a link to purchase the book directly. We decided not to implement a purchase function on the site itself, as the book was already effectively offered by the publisher.

Conclusion
Dr. Imhof was very pleased with his multilingual website. Finally, it is also mobile-friendly and provides a reliable insight into his work. Due to the renaming of the domain, the beginning was naturally more difficult, which is also reflected in the analysis of Google services, but interest and click-through rates are increasing. In the future, when searching for Dr. Michael Imhof, one will find a web presence that matches his character, showcases his art to the world, and also gives proper attention to his literary work.
